Shepherds Cottage is a delightful Grade II listed detached cottage set in the heart of the picturesque Cotswold village of Temple Guiting, a few miles to the West of Stow on the Wold.
The cottage benefits from a range of period features, including exposed beams throughout, flagstone floors, woodburning stoves installed into historic fireplaces that include (decorative) historic bread ovens, and a window that was likely reclaimed from a church some centuries ago. The cottage is thought to be one of the oldest dwellings in the village dating back to the 15th century. Sitting outside in our garden, you can hear the River Windrush as it winds its way through the village below.
Temple Guiting is in the North Cotswolds, in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Shepherds Cottage is within the village’s conservation area. The village has a shop and a café (Temple Guiting Pantry), and there are pubs to be found in the nearby villages of Kineton (the Halfway House), Ford (the Plough Inn), and Guiting Power (the Hollow Bottom). The surrounding countryside provides attractive walking and riding along a network of footpaths, bridleways, and byways. Stow on the Wold is nearby (approx. 6 miles) for daily provisions, with Cheltenham and Oxford within easy reach for further leisure and shopping facilities.
